Whatever golden thread and the number 50 mean to you we would love to see it! This issue will be an autumn one (very fortuitously - see yellow leaves above), so we are looking for knit and crochet pieces that will work in a transitional season layering garments are perfect and accessories are especially welcome! Perhaps you could create a piece inspired by the colour yellow, or by something yellow, or maybe a special milestone in your own life. And if these aren’t familiar or don’t resonate then what feels more golden than pollen, wheatfields, autumn leaves, and evening sunshine? Rumplestiltskin spun straw into gold, the fates spun our destinies in golden thread, and Ariadne used a golden thread to help Theseus escape from the Minotaur. You could say that yellow has been a golden thread running through Pom Pom, holding together our palettes, keeping us on that yellow brick road to crafting joy!Īs well as reflecting on how much we love golden hues we have been thinking of all the instances of gold that we can, whether in myths and fairytales, or in nature. Of course usually it’s for 50 years rather than 50 issues, but being a publication that has always loved yellow (and by extension gold!) it feels like a great time to embrace that love, while reflecting on the fact that we have reached such a special milestone. For Pom Pom’s 50th issue (how did we make it so far?!) we decided to lean into the tradition of celebrating the number 50 with gold. ![]()
